“Things need not have happened to be true. Tales and dreams are the shadow-truths that will endure when mere facts are dust and ashes, and forgot.”
- Neil Gaiman

This quote reminds me how vivid some dreams (and stories!) can be and how they can influence a person’s thoughts and actions in waking hours.
So true. And when we’re in a dream, it usually feels as real as waking…so who’s to say it ISN’T real, in some different way?
So true! I mean how many of us have stories that we have gotten so immersed in that they become a shade of truth for us, the characters like old friends and their adventures nearly as real as if they were are own? I love Gaiman, he is always good for amazing quotes.
A good story often lives for me much more than a fact that is, by normal definitions, true. And I find that the true facts of history I remember best are the ones that are presented as stories.
